"In 2554, the Red Army introduced Grifball to the world. By 2557, all other sports had been abandoned."
—Series synopsis

The Totally Incredible Legendary Adventures of Team Slipspace, more commonly known as Grifball, is a sports science-fiction mini-series created by Burnie Burns and produced by Rooster Teeth. It acts as a spin-off of Red vs. Blue. The series centers around the badly-made decisions made by the Commissioner, issues with a fourth team member, and the consequences of both that affect Team Slipspace, the series namesake.

As of July 2022, all four seasons of the Grifball mini-series are now available on the Rooster Teeth Animation YouTube channel.

Trivia[]

  • The series originally aired exclusively on Halo Waypoint before it was later split across two DVD releases: Expansion and Zero Tolerance were bundled with the The Recollection box set, while Franchise Player and Double Agent were bundled with the Season 9 DVD. The series, along with the first ten seasons of Red vs. Blue, was later released as part of the RVBX DVD and Blu-ray box sets.
    • Game Changer, a Red vs. Blue PSA widely regarded as the series finale of Grifball, is included as a bonus feature on the Season 11 DVD, and was later bundled with the Chorus Trilogy steelbook.
  • The series is referenced multiple times throughout the Red vs. Blue franchise.
    • Season 10 references the series twice. In Revenants, a guard is shown watching Grifball highlights before being knocked unconscious by York. Later, in Out of Body, York is seen wearing a “Property of Grifball” T-shirt.
    • Red vs. Blue: Restoration features more prominent references, including Retro Convention XVII, which hosts a pro-am Grifball tournament organized by Stu Stuman. Footage from Grifball: Expansion is shown playing at the convention, while a screenshot from Grifball: Double Agent appears on the promotional poster for Restoration itself.
    • Grif himself also appears in the Grifball episode Double Agent 3.
    • Despite these references, the canonicity of Grifball within the Red vs. Blue continuity has never been officially specified by Rooster Teeth. However, the series’ official synopsis places its events as early as the year 2557, aligning it chronologically with the present-day portions of the Project Freelancer Saga and the Chorus Trilogy.
