- "A central hub. Some sort of...device connected to the rest of the temples on the planet, that's our best guess at least, but this energy source in the center is...something else."
- —A space pirate scientist in Locus of Control
The Jungle Temple is an ancient area on Chorus containing a portal that is used to test individuals to see if they prove to be a true warrior, which is detailed to be an individual with great strength and mental clarity. The location first appeared in Along Came a Spider.
Role in Plot[]
After Tucker reactivates an alien temple at an excavation site, the temple releases a map detailing coordinates that lead to the jungle temple. When the Space Pirates arrive at the temple first, they discover a portal and go through it to see where it leads. After Locus passes through he is spoken to by Santa and soon sees an illusion of himself, Felix, and their squad during the Great War. The illusions believe Locus to be a monster and eventually attack him, startling Locus as he relives this traumatizing event. Locus is soon exited from the portal and the Space Pirates depart.
Afterward, Carolina, Grey, and the Blues arrive at the temple and pass through the portal. Unfortunately, both Tucker and Carolina fail their tests (Tucker was beaten and overwhelmed by multiple copies of Locus and Felix, and Carolina was shocked from seeing the deaths of her fellow Freelancers and the Reds and Blues), prompting Caboose to pass through. After the latter passes, due to him meeting the temple instructions' requirements, he returns with the temple's alien A.I., Santa. Santa explains that he was left behind by his creators in order to pass along their relics to only those who deem worthy.
