"Step forth, mortal!"
—The Guardian in Duo

The Guardian was a minor character introduced in Red vs. Blue: Zero. He is an alien construct built by the same creators that created the Great Keys. His purpose was to stand guard at an ancient temple.

Role in Plot[]

Assault on the Alien Temple[]

After Viper retrieves the artifact from Falcon Base, Zero and Phase use it to unlock the temple where the Guardian resides. After fighting through a small army of alien constructs, the two encounter the Guardian, who stands as a last line of defense against intruders. The Guardian informs them that the power they seek could summon a destructive force, but they ignore his warning. The two Viper agents and the Guardian have a fearsome battle, but he is ultimately destroyed. Zero takes the Key from within him and leaves with Phase.

Appearance[]

Zero and Phase vs Monster

The Guardian is a hulking metal automaton, whose chassis is a jet black, with no color except for the golden orbs located on his head and calves, and his eyes, which are usually blue, but change to red when shooting their energy beam. His character model is a minion from the game Paragon, with the golden orbs added on. The Guardian is several times larger than Zero and Phase, so it can be assumed that it is roughly 20-25 ft. tall.

Trivia[]

  • The Guardian was first seen in the short teaser for Rooster Teeth's upcoming productions that released on April 6, 2020.

  • The Guardian is the second A.I. in the series to be voiced by Devin Finn, as Finn had previously voiced Labyrinth in Red vs. Blue: Singularity.
