Line 10: Line 10:

''Red versus red
Blue versus blue''

''Red versus red
Blue versus blue''

== Meanings ==

Roses are red, and violets are blue.

(The first lines are talking about flowers that are red and blue respectively: roses for red and violets for blue. It's also a reference to what is used for the beginning of love poems, which is similar to some romantic relationships in the blood gulch crew. [I.e. Church and Tex used to date each other])

One day we'll cruise down Blood Gulch avenue.

(The singers are telling someone that they'll one day go through Blood Gulch. The avenue part is strange as Blood Gulch is a valley, though avenue means a street with trees on the side, and Blood Gulch has a few trees, [dead ones anyway] so it's somewhat an avenue.)

It's Red vs Red, and Blue vs. Blue.

(This line has two meanings, one being that people are against each other at times, even against their own groups. Two, the two teams usually fight amongst themselves, like Sarge hurting Grif and Tucker, Church and Tex yelling at Caboose's stupidity.)

It's I against I, and me against you.

(The first part is confusing, but if you thank about it, it makes sense as people pronounce themselves in first person, like I or me, so technically is two people against each other, introducing each other in first person. The second part is some one against someone else. [Me for myself and you as in someone else])

Violets are blue, and roses are red.

(See first meaning)

Living like this, we're already dead

(The singers are in the place of the soldiers in this line. Technically the soldiers hate their jobs and are saying they're already dead.)

Hop in my car, it doesn't have any doors.

(This line is mentioning the Warthog, a common vehicle in Halo, as it's a car with out doors. The word doors is extended in the song [dooooooooooooors])

It's built like a cat, it lands on all fours.

(Grif can't tell the difference between a Warthog and a puma. A puma is a cat and cats are known for landing on it's four feet. A warthog has four wheels and [usually] land on all fours. The word fours is extended in the song [foooooouuuuuurs])

My cars like a Puma, it drives on all fours.

(Similar to the last line, except the drive part. A puma will run, and a Warthog will drive. The word fours is extended again.)

Red vs. red and blue vs blue.

(See third line)

Roses violets album

Blood Gulch Blues serves as the theme song for Red vs. Blue: The Blood Gulch Chronicles and the overall series. It was written and performed by the band, Trocadero. The full version of the song is not normally played during webcast episodes, but is available on all the released DVDs for the original Blood Gulch Chronicles. Starting with Season 3, a remix of the original song was used and since then several other remixes were made. It's also played at the canon ending of Episode 100.
