Unfortunately, Family Shatters will be the only Red vs Blue content we're getting this year. Details were sparse but all we know is that Season 19 will be coming next year, will still focus on the cast of Zero, and will be more character-focused.

Thankfully this isn't season 19, just a non-canon spinoff.
It's a stupid idea, but a fun kind of stupid. They can keep the Zero characters around for stuff like this while the main series can get back to the Reds and Blues, if the writers even want to go back to them.
I worked on a rewrite for Season 18 but eventually gave up on it.
Most of the characters would remain the same, but the biggest change was that Raymond and Zero would start out as friends. Zero would've been recruited into Viper and they'd have a different leader with Zero taking over at some point, while Raymond would still be the rookie joining Shatter Squad attempting to stop them.
I didn't really flesh out a conflict that Raymond would be stopping Zero over. Zero and the rest of Viper would've had family that were killed by the Covenant during the war, so maybe their plan would be getting revenge on the UNSC and the Covenant for ending things peacefully rather than wiping the Covenant out.
But since RvB hasn't acknowledged the aliens that much in recent seasons, and since making a rewrite wouldn't end up change what we got, I ended up scrapping everything.

I see a few potential options:
Tucker gets a new sword
Tucker doesn't get a new sword
They modify the sword so that anyone can use it and Phase gives it back to Tucker
Tucker pulls a Reverse Uno and makes Phase flatline, technically dying, and he gets the sword back (unless the sword doesn't work any more for people that have 'died')
@Hodgepig Whatever man. You said yourself that Zero was a terrible season, so why bother defending mediocrity?
@Hodgepig if that were the case then that would technically mean that Felix could still be alive.
I brought this up in another post and I just wanted to expand upon it, if you have any story ideas feel free to share them.
- Carolina in hiding (we already know she re-enlisted in the UNSC with forged documents, so let’s expand upon that; what missions did she go on? Did anyone find out about her? How did she reunite with Wash and organize the break-in to rescue Epsilon?)
- Church meeting and falling in love with Allison (was already covered to some degree in the Ultimate Fan Guide but would be great to see in animation or live action)
- Whatever Siris is up to (Is he still a bounty hunter or did he give up that life? Does he work with Locus ever again?)
- How the Chorus Civil War started (Kimball and Doyle’s early days in the war, and any notable events before they eventually become Generals), as well as the aftermath (the Reds and Blues’ last stand on the Staff of Charon, Hargrove getting arrested, the transition into unifying the armies, and everyone’s reactions to losing Epsilon)
- Donut’s journey through time and space after getting zapped by the time machine, or wherever he goes after fixing the paradox
- Wash’s early days as a Recovery agent
- What the Reds and Blues were up to between seasons 8 and 9, and maybe between Singularity and Zero
- the early days of Project Freelancer (the first few missions, creating Alpha, etc.)
- the Meta’s rampage collecting the AI fragments (give us a look into his head as a result of Sigma manipulating him)
- whatever Junior has been up to
- the Insurrectionists and Charon Industries (the beginning of their conflict with Project Freelancer, Hargrove’s involvement, etc.)
- As much as I loathed Zero, go into the early days of GLASS and the original Shatter Squad, and show why Zero becomes such an edgelord instead of telling us.
What do you think the plot of season 19 will be? I have some ideas.
Since Zero decided to break continuity and take Tucker's sword away from him, I'd like to see Tucker, Wash, Carolina (and the other Reds and Blues if they're up for it) get wrapped up in another story involving the aliens which eventually leads to Tucker getting a new sword.
Another idea: kind of a wildcard option but I had a dream where Caboose had gone full psychotic became the villain, so that would be interesting.
Or just do another anthology season, but with more canon stories. There's still a bunch of characters we haven't seen in a while and events we haven't seen yet.
